PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME

Our school is grounded in strong values. Our ASPIRE values –Adaptability, Social Awareness, Personal Best, Integrity, Responsibility and Excellence. These values reflect the qualities that we see are vital for young people to be able to reach their potential and participate actively in society.

We are committed to educating the whole person and we pride ourselves on providing a very safe, secure and productive learning environment for all young people. We have very clear expectations and policies about acceptable behaviour at Mount Erin, with very clear policies around bullying. We act promptly when it occurs. We have a strict uniform code and equally strong policies around the appropriate use of social media, which has become such a significant issue for many young people today. Like many things, we work with young people to build their social skills, sense of empathy and their capacity to manage themselves in an ethical manner. This is part of the learning journey that is adolescence.

We live in the digital world, the world of technology and this is integral to the learning environment at Mount Erin College. The remote learning experience has shown even more, how vital these skills are to all of us for learning, collaborating and communicating. We have a 1 to 1 Notebook Program at Mount Erin College. We have seen the development of the borderless class room. Learning can take place anytime, anywhere. We are one of a small number of schools involved with Computers in Schools, a philanthropic organisation whose mission is to bring expertise into schools working closely with teachers to build digital technology skills including coding in our young people. They are providing authentic opportunities for Mount Erin students to work with businesses – real world problem solving. This is just one of the many things your children will get to experience.

We have outstanding teachers here at the College. They are highly skilled and passionate educators. They work tirelessly to bring out each child’s potential, to build confidence to encourage students to excel. You will meet a number of our dedicated Year 7 Team through this virtual platform and we look forward to working closely with you and your son or daughter next year. Communication is the key. We are here to make sure the transition from Primary School is as smooth as it can be.

As showcased in the Virtual Tour of the College, we have wonderful facilities at Mount Erin offering a dynamic learning environment. We have a new Gymnasium and competition standard multi use hockey field. We are excited about the great facilities that will be available for your children.

We are about to embark upon a six year partnership together, as our expectation is that all students will complete their studies through to the end of Year 12. Success for us means that every student has a positive pathway at the end of their secondary education.

This is an exciting journey, one which will no doubt have some ups and downs. Rest assured that we are here to work with you when these ripples occur – they are part of the rich and colourful fabric that is adolescence! Working together with the students and families is the key. We want our students to be very proud of their school.

Our goal is to produce students who are well prepared for a complex and challenging future. They need to be resilient, active citizens within their communities and skilled to participate in the digital world.

I am delighted that you have chosen Mount Erin College for your child’s education and look forward to welcoming to our college.

Thank you
